Dear Homeschool Moms,

As we stand on the brink of a new school year, I want to take a moment to reach out to each of you with a warm hug, a knowing smile, and a heart full of understanding. We’ve chosen this path for many reasons—out of love, conviction, and a deep desire to give our children the best we can offer. But that doesn’t mean it’s always easy.

I know that as we prepare for the year ahead, many of us are feeling a mixture of excitement and anxiety. There’s the thrill of new beginnings, fresh lesson plans, and the hope of seeing our children flourish. But there’s also the worry—are we doing enough? Are we doing it right? Can we manage the unexpected challenges that life inevitably throws our way?

I want you to know that you’re not alone in these feelings. We all have our doubts, our moments of feeling overwhelmed, and our sleepless nights where we question if we’re truly up to the task. But I believe that these very doubts are a sign of our deep commitment and love for our children. They show that we care—deeply—and that we’re willing to give our all to see them succeed.

Remember that homeschooling is not about perfection. It’s about being present, being intentional, and being there for our children as they grow and learn at their own pace. It’s about creating a home filled with curiosity, joy, and a love of learning. There will be days when everything clicks and feels right, and there will be days when nothing seems to go according to plan. Both are part of the journey.

So, as we step into this new school year, let’s embrace it together. Let’s support one another, share our experiences, our triumphs, and our challenges. Let’s remind each other that it’s okay to have rough days, to ask for help, and to lean on each other when we need to.

We’re all in this together, for the sake of our children and our families. And in that togetherness, there is strength, hope, and endless possibility. Let’s encourage one another to keep going, to keep loving, and to keep believing in the incredible impact we’re making in our children’s lives.

Wishing you a year filled with learning, laughter, and love. We’ve got this—together.

With heartfelt support,

Jen

2 Important Things to Remember on Your Homeschooling Journey

    Freedom

    Homeschooling brings so many freedoms!

You have the freedom to choose curriculum and you can switch it up year to year or child to child! Every year at our homeschool co-op we've tried new curriculum. Our two tried and true favorites that we've stuck year after year are: Not Consumed for Bible Study, The Good and the Beautiful for Elementary Math.

You are truly free to individualize your child's learning experience. What does he love? What are her obsessions right now? What are his strengths you'd love to build on? Or things she struggles with that you can patiently and lovingly work on? Homeschooling can be so JOYFUL and learning can be FUN! Feel free to learn right alongside your child and let them feel your excitement and curiosity.

You have the freedom of time. Time is yours. You have the freedom to make your own schedule. Enjoy learning at your own pace and during the time of day that works best for your family. Take vacations and field trips. What awesome ways to learn!

    Family First

One of the best parts of the homeschool movement is the return of putting family first. Our society is so caught up in busyness that it's hard for families to even sit down and have dinner together anymore. As I write this, I think about my 19 year old daughter who I just dropped off at college last week. I keep thinking about how quickly the 19 years with her went. I hadn't discovered homeschooling in time to do it with her and I wish we could go back in time and do that over. We get our kids for such a short time. Nurturing them, teaching them real life skills, sharing traditions, giving them strong roots and good values , and showing them how to work are all things we can do with them when they are at home under our wings. Because in a blink of an eye, they will be flying away. And if we did a good job, they will be ready. So mama, I know days can be long. Kids fight. They argue with you. You question and second guess yourself. But remember, you are doing THE most important job in the world and there is no one better suited for the job than you!
